Overview

About The Independent School of Jakarta

The Independent School of Jakarta (ISJ) is a co-educational day school in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, operated by The Schools Trust, a UK-registered charity running 16 schools across 11 countries. The school opened in September 2021 and follows the English National Curriculum exclusively, with students progressing to IGCSE and A Level.

ISJ is structured around three sub-schools: Pre-Prep (ages 2–6), Prep School (ages 7–13), and Senior School (ages 14–18). All teachers are UK-qualified, and the school maintains a 1:9 staff-to-pupil ratio with class sizes of around 15 in Pre-Prep. Students come from over 30 nationalities.

ISJ is accredited by British Schools Overseas, recognised by the UK Department for Education and the Indonesian Ministry of Education, and listed in The Good Schools Guide. A purpose-built Senior Campus is scheduled to open in Pondok Indah in 2028. Eileen Fisher, a former ISI inspector with 31 years' experience, joined as Head in 2024.
