Methodology
How We Rank Schools
British Schools Asia is an independent index of British curriculum schools across Asia's major commercial cities. We rank the schools that meet our inclusion criteria so families can see, at a glance, how schools compare on the things that matter: quality of education, standing in their community, and the conditions under which they operate.
Who's in the index
A school may be included only if it has been open for more than a year, teaches the British curriculum, and is located in Asia.
What we score on
We weigh a range of things, drawn from private and public sources, accreditation registers, and independent inspection reports. No school pays to be listed and no school can pay to move.
- Community reputation. The collective view of parents, educators, and other observers, gathered over time. Recurring signals are weighed heavily; one-off complaints are not.
- Freedom to teach the curriculum in pupils' best interests. Whether the school can deliver the British curriculum without external constraints on content, admissions, or pedagogy.
- Recent independent inspection. Whether the school has been inspected by a recognised body in the last two years, and whether the outcome was positive.
- Accreditation. Whether the school holds current accreditation from a recognised authority.
- Published exam results. Whether the school publishes its A Level and IGCSE results openly on its own website.
How we put it together
Each school's position in the ranking is the result of weighing all five factors against the school's place in the wider market. Our methodology is data-led and reviewed regularly.
What we don't do
We don't accept payment for placement or take editorial direction from schools.
